Description
A must see for anyone visiting Washington DC is the Washington National Cathedral. The architecture of the cathedral is incredible and boasts 215 stained glass windows. This is a photo of the "Founding of a New Nation" - a stained glass clerestory window above the George Washington Bay in the south nave of the Washington National Cathedral. Red symbolizes bloodshed. The blues and deep grays represent Native American campfire smoke. The green represents new growth. The light grays at the top represent open space. The 13 pieces at the top of the window represent the Thirteen Colonies.
All monies from the sales of this photo will be donated to the National Cathedral to help pay for the damage sustained from the August 2011 earthquake.
