The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial is located in West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C. and covers four acres. The granite statue of Civil Rights Movement leader was carved by sculptor Lei Yixin. The memorial opened to the public on August 22, 2011, after more than two decades of planning, fund-raising, and construction.

My love of the outdoors and interest in photography goes back many years. I've always enjoyed photographing landscapes and nature and sharing what I've seen with other people. Like many photographers, I was never happy with the processing done at my local lab and my interest in photography dipped for several years until the advent of digital cameras. I was extremely excited about digital photography and jumped on the opportunity to go digital with a Nikon D300, my first digital camera.
